Exercise Tips for a Dog and Parrot?

I have a West highland Terrier and a senegal parrot. My dog hasn’t gotten much exercise lately (for too many reasons to explain lol) and I’d like to start giving him some again, but I don’t want to overexert. Plus, I’ve been snowed in over the past couple of days, so outdoor walks aren’t really an option. Any tips for easing him back into exercise
And then there is my parrot…I was just wondering how exactly I can make sure he is getting adequate exercise because he is in a cage for quite a bit of the day. I’d let him roam, but there’s the dog issue and I’m afraid he’d fly into a window! Are there certain toys that I can put in his cage to give him something productive to do while he’s in the cage?

Play with the dog inside the house if you can’t get out. Toss a ball and have him chase after it. Or, if you have a flashlight or laser pointer, that’s fun for the dog to chase.

As for the bird- There are plenty of toys out on the market to keep birds busy. Foraging toys, foot toys, fun perches, activity centers…
